TRENTON — New Jersey's child welfare agency has a new director.
Social worker Christine Mozes has been promoted from deputy director.
The Division of Youth and Family Services is the state's leading child protection and welfare agency.
Mozes will oversee a work force of 4,000. The agency is responsible for investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect and managing the state foster care and adoption system.
DYFS is in the midst of a court-ordered reform that is costing hundreds of millions of dollars and is being overseen by a federal judge.
The reform is in response to a lawsuit brought on behalf of foster children by a New York children's rights organization.
