Thank you for talking with me today. In the Mayor’s letter it stated if I would like to get you legal staff to research relevant topics in advance of the meeting I should call. Please see below questions: Would appreciate any research information you can provide. If in advance of the meeting, that would be great. Goal is to make the meeting as productive as possible.
I intend to protest the zoning change allowing the “residential home” to be re-classified a “Group Home” per the below statue. Is this a legally sound approach? No problem getting the signatures; what municipality would need to vote the 2/3 vote to approve? State or Cherry Hill Township.
"A protest against any proposed amendment or revision of a zoning ordinance may be filed with the municipal clerk, signed by the owners of 20% or more of the area either(1) of the lots or land included in such proposed change, or (2) of the lots or land extending 200 feet in all directions thereform inclusive of street space, whether within or without the municipality." Once protest filed, need 2/3ds vote of governing body of the municipality to effectuate the change (allowance of group home).
Would like to have research data disclosed that shows the impact or protection of home values after the introduction of such a property within the similar neighborhood?
The letter states the Mayor ordered the Mentor Network staff to vacate until the township receives Zoning permit and other licensing documents from the property owner. What are the specific documents required? Who are the approving authorities? Are there public hearing associated with these approvals? Dates required by, etc?
